Overview
I built HouseCup because I saw a gap in how teams stay connected and motivated — especially as remote and hybrid work became the norm. Slack and Discord are where teams already spend their time, but there was nothing lightweight that turned daily interactions into something that builds culture.
HouseCup brings the classic house system into the workplace. Team members are sorted into houses and earn points through engagement, encouragement, and collaboration. It's inspired by the idea that friendly competition and shared identity can make a team feel more connected — without requiring another app or meeting.
The bot sits inside Slack and Discord, so there's zero friction. Teams can award points for helping a teammate, shipping a feature, mentoring someone new, or anything else worth recognizing. Leaderboards, house standings, and point histories give teams visibility into who's contributing and what behaviors are being celebrated.
What makes HouseCup different from typical recognition tools is the emphasis on camaraderie over individual performance. It's not about employee of the month — it's about building a culture where encouragement and participation are the default.
